Wow...just wow

what the fuck happened here? I've been doing stuff-lots of stuff actually. But why no blogs?
Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I got nothing. Seriously, I have no idea where I've been lately.

It's Christmas break for the next few weeks, so I'm hoping to write up some blogs-I've been travelling all over the place the past few weeks, and I have lots to share.

(Another) Throwback post! My Hometown!

My hometown of Guelph Ont, is really only famous for a few things-The University of Guelph, and the hometown of the leader of the Pot Party. I think that's about it. Oh, and the authors Jean Little and Robert Munch.
I know that I've posted pictures of my hometown before-I go there often enough, that there are lots of posts about Ontario. But, this is different. You see, this was before I knew I would be leaving forever. I also thought I could be a semi-professional photographer at some point in my life. As you can see, that never turned out. I don't mean to say I take bad pictures-I think they are quite alright-it just means that I will never make money from it. That's fine. There are plenty of real photographers out there with lots of talent, you know?
So, enjoy these OLD photos (maybe 2 cameras ago) and look forward to some new ones from Ontario in August!

More Nature!

I've shown you guys some of the trails and stuff around my apartment/campus before. This time, I actually walked down the mountain, to the inlet and beach that is at the bottom. It was a super cool hike, not too strenuous, but a lot of fun. I even made a video!

I know, I post  a lot of nature things, and that wasn't what I had in mind with this blog, really, but it seems that now, and for the foreseeable future, I'm going to be living in a place with spectacular nature. So, please, bear with me for a while on this.
I think that spending time outdoors is really important, not just for the body, but for the mind and soul. It has been proven in multiple studies that spending time outside daily relieves stress and stimulates different areas of the brain that being inside does not. Furthermore, we need to remember that we are a PART of nature, and not separate from it.
I think if more of the stuffed shirts in politics spent more time outside, there wouldn't BE a climate change debate-it would be accepted for the fact it is.
A little ranty, but, whatever.

I challenge everyone who reads this to spend 30 minutes a day outside around trees, or flowers, or mountains, or the water, or anything less concrete for one week. Throw some chill tunes on your ipod and just walk. Look around you. Experience all that this earth provides for us, and just BE.

Ontario playground

Hey guys, this SHOULD be my last post about the holidays in Ontario, but there may be a photo post sometime later, if I decide to throw in some filler when I get swamped with school work (which I'm actively fighting against).

I'll start with some of the fun things I got either from shopping trips around Ontario and Toronto, and some of the stuff I got from Christmas. I should also mention, again, that I am a pretty big nerd, and I am not ashamed at all. And, for any internet trolls who feel the need to refer to me as some 'fake gamer girl', I freely admit that I don't game anymore. So, sure. Bring it.

I also got a fun Tardis mug, that I have a really hard time drinking out of ( is there a trick to drinking out of something square?) as well as a lightsaber that was hella fun to get on the plane. The flight guy that checked us in loved it though.

So, clearly, I got some pretty badass stuff while I was there. I got a bunch more stuff, including a camera, clothing, The Last Unicorn DVD (which I'm sure stoked about) and a charitable donation to a child in Africa. Apparently, the hubs and I got her a piglet, which is really cool. When I finally make it to Africa, my mom wants us to see if we can find the girl they "adopted", but I think it might be hard, since World Vision only gives an approximate area in which to find her village. We'll see though. It would be hella cool to find my so called adopted sister. Or, that's what my mom calls her.

Speaking of my mom...she has a tendency to collect random knick-nacks. And, sometimes, I like looking at them. Actually, they are all pretty neat. My family has some pretty weird things they like, and then blend them together into some weird Buddhist-African-pop culture thing. It's just as weird as it sounds, but it works.

Okay, so I'm looking through my pictures, and, yea, there will be another Ontario post, but it will be mostly selfies, and pictures of my parents dog. So, still awesome?

Happy New year, and a small update!

So, as I'm sure you all have been made aware, the New year is coming upon us (and is upon some in the world).
I would like to extend the warmest wishes and good cheer for all of you, and yours in this coming year. Go out, and do something awesome; meet new people; have an adventure; and just live the year to its fullest.

Do any of you have New Years resolutions? If so, share them with me, I would love to hear them! I don't really have any, other than to travel more, do better in school, eat cleaner, and become a more badass version of myself. I guess that is quite a bit now that I look at it! Bring it on!

In other news, I'm still at my parents place. I'll be leaving later this week, and will have a full proper update then. For now, it's just quick.
Christmas was great for me. I got some great things from my loved ones, and (hopefully) gave some great things in return. Christmas makes me happy because it makes so many other people happy. I also went and did some shopping while I've been here, and got some really AWESOME geeky stuff. I have photos of it all on my brand new camera (!!!), but  my parents computer doesn't have a SD drive, so it will have to wait until I get home.
Actually, the only photos I have are on my phone, so forgive the low quality-my phone is a little old.
We also had a pretty big ice storm that shut down half of Toronto (sorry, is my Canadian showing?) and it broke a bunch of trees, and power lines, and all sorts of stuff. A lot of people were without power for days, and it has been super cold (actually cold, not just cold for me and my climatized west coast self). So, BOO to that. It's better now, but still quite cold.

Seattle day of out and aboutness!

As mentioned, we went out like tourists on the second day of our trip to Seattle. This was all, basically, planned, so there was no horrible disappointments with this at all.
We weren't really sure what we wanted to do, but decided that all the cool stuff we haven't seen was near the Space needle, so that's where we went!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day out, and we walked around the gardens and area that surrounds the space needle. We didn't actually go up the tower, because our friends apartment (from last post) was actually higher, and had a better view. And I'm cheap like that.

So, instead of the needle, we went to the EMP museum, which is all about music, pop culture and sci-fi. They also had an AWESOME fantasy section that is all limited time and stuff. If you like any of those things mentioned, then the EMP museum is a MUST to see when in Seattle. Seriously, we were there for HOURS. Total nerd for that kind of thing, mind you. I won't/can't post all the pictures, because I took SO many, but here are some of the choice ones from each section of the EMP.

It was a lot of fun, and they even had a student price, which was hella awesome. I love it when places have student prices. I mean, seriously, I pay SO much for tuition and books and stuff, that it's nice to save a little money when I can. Sure, I could just stay inside like a hermit, but, where's the fun in that?

Before leaving Seattle, we went up this one HUGE tower, that had one of those rooftop things with a view. When i remember the name, I'll add it, but, until then, you can just enjoy the same view that I did.
